Born in Paços de Ferreira, on the 24th of July 1947, Filipe Manuel da Silva Abreu was one of the most prominent politicians in the Algarve region in the post-25th of April period. He was born with a taste for politics, as he was the paternal grandson of Eduardo Abreu, a Republican Deputy elected during the monarchical period and Deputy in the Constituent Assembly of 1911.
Filipe Abreu settled in the Algarve in 1967, where he started working and started a family.
One of the founding activists of the PSD/Algarve (he was the number 18 activist in this region), he actively participated in all events and electoral campaigns, earning the respect and admiration of his peers.
Municipal and district leader of the PSD, he was mayor in Portimão, where he was a candidate for President of the City Council, Councilor and several times elected member of the Municipal Assembly.
Candidate for the Algarve in the Legislative Elections of 1976, 1985, 1987, 1991 and 1995, he was elected in the V, VI and VII Legislatures (1987 to 1995).
