O Acordeão no Algarve – Um Século de Histórias e Memórias
O Acordeão no Algarve – Um Século de Histórias e Memórias
Author: Dr. Nuno Campos Inácio
Category: Biographies and Memoirs
International accordionists Éric Bouvelle, Julien Gonzales, Petar Maric, Pietro Adragna, Richard Galliano and Frédéric Deschamps were unanimous in considering this one of the best books on accordion ever published, despite its regional setting. These opinions follow those of dozens of Portuguese accordionists with the same opinion.
When Francisco Sabóia challenged the author of this work, Nuno Campos Inácio, to carry out this work, the expectation was that a monographic note with a hundred pages would be prepared. The final result was a book with more than 500 pages, richly illustrated, which goes far beyond the history of the accordion in the Algarve, tracing the history of this magnificent instrument from antiquity to the present, without forgetting the great world events of the Trophy and the World Cup.
With the collaboration of several accordionists, such as Hermenegildo Guerreiro, Gonçalo Pescada, Rodrigo Maurício, or Baltazar Guerreiro, among others, biographies of more than a hundred accordionists from the Algarve, or from any other corner of the world, who participated in major events in the accordion in the Algarve.
A work that has been seen as an unavoidable pillar for the candidacy of the Algarve accordion (as the king instrument of the corridinho and charolas), as an intangible heritage of humanity, which had as its starting point the collection of the Paderne Accordion Museum.
