José Mendes Bota who, whether as mayor in Loulé or as a Deputy to the Assembly of the Republic and the European Parliament, was always careful to take on the work developed in the form of a book as a future memory.

«Maybe…goodbye!» It is the closing of a long chapter in your life without leaving any locks on the door, as destiny has many twists and turns. It is a balance document, from those who have always reported the exercise to the holders of the capital of representative democracy: the citizens.

There, Mendes Bota confesses what always guided his early journey, and what he prematurely wanted to see finished: what he calls his “trilogy of the heart”, Algarve-Portugal-Europe. In «Perhaps…Goodbye», the author reveals that he paid a high price for always being an Algarvian, regionalist and saying what he thought.

This book reveals some of the causes for which he fought, and whose paths he was most unhappy with: the implementation of the Orthographic Agreement (a crime against the country!), the contracting of oil exploration on the coast of the Algarve and the coasts of the Algarve, and the unfeasibility of the administrative regionalization process as stipulated in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic.
